Ms. Marquita Moore is the Owner/CEO and Head Apparel Designer of Wamuiru (Wah-moo-ee-roo) Couture LLC., a company established in 2012 that focuses on custom and tailored apparel and accessories. Marquita utilizes her business as a tool to help women gain confidence by looking and feeling the part and loving who they are. 

 

Ms. Moore is also an advocate for excellence in mentoring and education. As the first college graduate in her family, Marquita has always been a strong proponent of higher education, evidenced by the establishment of a scholarship program, Wamuiru Couture Book Scholarship Program, for students attending an HBCU.

 

Under the Wamuiru Couture umbrella, she also operates a mentoring program, entitled Sew What!, to teach and coach young girls about the importance of self awarness, dream building and life skills with emphasis on: sewing, culinary, physical fitness, wardrobe etiquette, careers, networking, etc. Since the establishment of her apparel line, she has offered an annual Prom Dress Package to underprivileged highschool seniors which includes a sponsored custom designer dress along with complimentary hair and makeup services.

 

Prior to the establishment of Wamuiru Couture, Marquita served as an advocate for the homeless and indigent community for nonprofit health organizations. She founded an E.R. Diversion Program in Orlando, FL; and has worked with many organizations throughout South Florida coordinating health events to provide free healthcare to uninsured children.

 

She is an alumna of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where she received a Bachelors of Science in Health Care Management and received a Masters of Business Administration with Emphasis in Health System Management from Nova Southeastern University. Marquita is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated; where she actively serves on a host of committees. Marquita is a native of Miami, FL.
